Palestine Children’s Relief Fund
The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF), established in 1991, is a 501(c)(3) non-governmental organization dedicated to addressing the medical and humanitarian crises faced by Palestinian youth in the Middle East. Their primary goal is to secure free medical care in the United States and Europe for children who cannot receive adequate treatment in their home region. Since its inception, the PCRF has provided medical treatment to tens of thousands of young individuals. In 2023, it remains the leading humanitarian organization in Palestine, delivering essential medical relief and humanitarian aid where needed.
Medical Aid for Palestinians
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), established in 1982, focuses on addressing the humanitarian needs of Palestinians. It receives support from the British public, the UK Government, the European Union, and international aid organizations. MAP provides healthcare to Palestinian refugees, trains healthcare professionals, and supports vulnerable groups. While facing controversy due to its founder’s comments, the organization has declared its opposition to all forms of prejudice. In 2023, MAP shifted its focus to supplying protective gear for Palestinian healthcare workers and launched an emergency appeal during the Israel-Hamas conflict.
Palestine Red Crescent Society
The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) represents the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in Palestine, covering the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. Established in 1968 by Fathi Arafat, brother of Yasser Arafat, it provides healthcare services, hospitals, emergency medicine, and ambulance services. PRCS gained recognition as a National Society in 1969 and has played a vital role in offering healthcare and social services in the Palestinian territories. It achieved full membership status in the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in June 2006.
Islamic Relief Worldwide
Islamic Relief Worldwide, founded in the UK in 1984, is a faith-inspired humanitarian and development organization dedicated to empowering the world’s most vulnerable people. Operating in over 45 countries, they aid more than 10 million individuals annually through emergency response and development programs, focusing on education, health, and livelihood support. They also advocate for climate change, women’s and girls’ rights, and support refugees. Registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales since 1989, it’s an independent, non-political NGO with an income of £183 million in 2021.
Palestine Solidarity Campaign
The Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) is a politically unaligned activist organization in England and Wales, based in London. Similar campaigns exist in Scotland and Ireland. Notable figures like Jeremy Corbyn, Hugh Lanning, and Tony Greenstein have been associated with the group. In 2017, Hugh Lanning, then chair of PSC, was barred from entering Israel due in part to his connections with Hamas, recognized as a terrorist organization by the EU.
